The villa is located on a rock, east from Hotel Excelsior. Its core is the old chapel of St. Lazarus from the 13th century, while the remaining part, according to the Conservation Department, dates back from 17th and 18th century. 
Villa Angelica is situated in Oprtalj, a picturesque little town in the north western part of Istria, sited on the crest of a hill with spectacular views. All this area stretching from Zrenj in the north to Livade and the Motovun woods in the Mirna river valley, is world known for truffles.
